Aalborg Vs Manchester United Highlights: Berbatov Opens His United Account

Line up:
GK: VDSRB: Rafael
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra
RM: Ronaldo
CM: O'Shea
CM: Scholes
LM: Nani
ST: Rooney
ST: Berbatov

Subs: Amos, Brown, Evans, Fletcher, Giggs, Anderson, Tevej

So as expected United got away with 3 points against Aalborg. It wasn't a straightforward victory though - courtesy Nani's extraordinarily shitty crosses and selfishness.

There were few surprises in the starting line up though. Surprisingly/Unsurprisingly Brown was not the part of the starting line up. He was replaced by the promising youngster Rafael Da Silva. O'Shea was in the center. He was pretty much invisible only for starting 90 minutes. Otherwise he did well... :P

Scholes picked up an injury - ligament damage. He will be out for 2 months. Our midfield is getting thinner day by day. Even Rooney was subbed when he started limping. Hopefully its not too serious. He is just started to look good. Manchester United official website says he felt something in his ankle. So he came off as a precaution to avoid further damage.

I am very impressed with Rafael. He looks very composed and confident going forward. He was sublime and pleasure too watch. His defense was a bit shaky but that will improve with experience. Rio, Vidic and Evra were impeccable as usual. In fact our defense was hardly ever tested by Aalborg. Aalborg were looking good on counters though.

Ronaldo should have scored yesterday. He missed one on one with the keeper, something that we are not used to see. But he had one assist. He set up the second goal for Berbatov. He still looks a bit off pace. In fact both Berbatov and Ronaldo shouldn't have played for full 90 minutes. But they were forced to play because of injuries to Rooney, Rafael and Scholes.

Berbatov wasn't that noticeable in the first half. He is still trying to understand United play style and vice versa. Sometimes I found him playing a little deep. May be he is frustrated with lack of service from other players. That will come with time though. He got two goals. First one was an ultimate poacher goal. I love these kind of goals. He shot the ball like a bullet. The second on was a flying kick. He looked much more confident after scoring.

Rooney was sensational today. He didn't run like a headless chicken all over the pitch :P Giggs setup the goal for him. what a through ball! Giggs look good in CAM role. But he is too thin to play as CAM against physically tough CMs. Lets hope Rooney is fit to face Blackburn this weekend.

Thanks for the visit.
Berbatov's second goal last night was pure magic.
I note your favourite ManU player is Ronaldo. I'm a big Tevez fan I have to say.

Football is an entertainment market. It is being destroyed, gradually, by clubs with the 'win at all cost mentality'. Clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea who continue to operate way above their means, just to fend off the likes of Arsenal and Villa. Buying success instead of building one. I wonder what will happen when a Premiership salary cap is suddenly introduced in the coming seasons?
